Do not miss ENHANCED BIOFUELS AND TECHNOLOGIES (EBTI’s) Case Study

Jatropha in India & Part of EBTI in development of Jatropha

Known as non edible oil seed and good feed stock for?Jatropha curcas is Bio Diesel world. Still it is not handled as an alternate crop (or) commercial crop in farming community. All government institutions and non governmental organizations are involved in the development program of Jatropha. following an Intensive Research Programme on the cultivation?EBTI has been of Jatropha and has been successful in creating crops of high yielding varieties with high oil content and resistant to harmful pests by a careful germplasm selection focusing on closed internodes, sex ratio, fruit setting percentage, dry seed weight, and germination and seed viability

Selection of variety

  • EBTI has explored 365 high yielding clones out of 18 million wild plants from different parts of the world
  • 20 High Yielding Varieties has been screened based on the multi location trials for commercial cultivations commercially high yielding clones of Jatropha curcas
  • EBTI has developed producing 5kg seeds/tree/annum(with oil yield of 4mt oil/ha) based on 25-30 fruits/bunch and 43% oil (seed basis)
  • Standardized 60 & 85 fruits/bunch planted in multi location trials expecting a yield of 7-9mt oil/ha Production Technology (HPT)
  • Standardized High planting system
  • High density Training & Pruning system disease
  • Integrated insect, & nutrition management planting, pruning, harvesting and post harvest management
  • Mechanized technology for biomethanation
  • Standardization of & seed cake conversion into animal feedstock…..

 Speaker Profile

Partners for Euro-African Green Energy (PANGEA)

Partners for Euro-African Green Energy, or PANGEA, links together North and South in a new way. PANGEA works to encourage biofuel production in Africa as a way to promote sustainable economic development using what Africa does best-agriculture. By adding the technology of Brazil, India and others to the mix, agriculture becomes something that Europe needs-sustainably produced biofuels. PANGEA provides that link.

Gathering together industry experts on biofuels, agriculture, trade, markets and development, PANGEA works closely with the European Commission institutions responsible for biofuels-eight in total-as well as the European Parliament, NGOs, African embassies, development agencies and EU member states to ensure a continued market for African biofuels.

But PANGEA isn’t just focused on Europe, it’s looking at Africa too. Through its regional workshops, PANGEA is able to bring the Brussels policy corridor to the ground in Africa as well as encourage more entrepreneurs to become involved in the growing biofuels industry across the continent.

The EU market is open, ready, and waiting.

And Africa is ready to join
